Show and Tell Term 4

     SHOW AND TELL TERM 4

Dear Parents,

For this busy term we will be having just 3 special people a day for news time. This means everyone will take turns in a 2 week cycle. This begins Monday the 26th of October (Week 3). The children will get constant reminders of this new sharing process.

Ideas: focus themes are transport and important people and places in our community. Your child might want to bring in their mum/dad/friend and share their career with the class. ( builder, nurse, doctor, fireman, shop owner, volunteer, physiotherapist etc.)

Journal Writing TERM 4

Dear Parents,

DAILY JOURNAL WRITING

This term the children will have two mornings a week to practise their writing in their Journal books. On one of their days they will have the opportunity to share a story of their choice and on the second day they will be able to use a sentence starter chosen by the teacher. Please sit with your child to help support their early writing and share this important literacy experience together.

Points to remember:

·        Let your child think of their sentence/story and have them say it out loud to you.

·        Encourage them to start writing down any sounds they hear in the words. Don’t worry if they are not spelling correctly at this stage. Prompt them with any familiar sight words e.g. the, it, is, to, went, on, I, a, and etc.

·        Make sure they have remembered a big letter at the beginning of their sentence, finger spaces and a full stop at the end. Lines are not necessary at this stage, however, there are rulers provided if your child needs them for help with direction.

·        They can draw a picture to illustrate their story.

Lets keep these mornings happy and stress free. Let the children sound out their words on their own as much as they can and let them refer to alphabet and sight word visual cards when needed. On the free sharing days, let the children choose what they would like to write about in their books.

Welcome Back to Term 4

Hello Everyone!

Just some general reminders for Term 4. It will be another busy term, jam-packed of learning to get your child even more ready and prepared for next year.

Please-

- Bring hat back if it was taken home over the holidays.
- children to still bring in a piece of fruit and fresh drink bottle for those sunny warm days. ( we will be changing to lunch box recess half way through the Term).
- Summer uniform can be worn ( black shorts is the only real change)
- Home Reader exchange days will remain the same ( Monday and Wednesdays)
- Be ready for new show and tell and morning Journal writing days.

Looking forward to seeing the children well rested and ready to go again! Last term here we come...

Oh well next year Eagles

After all our classroom support and cheering, the Eagles didn't come home with the big grand final win. Hope Vinny Rock our only Hawthorn supporter was very happy. Better Luck next year our beloved Eagles.

Miss Horrocks might not be a very happy teacher on Monday. I'm still devastated from the loss.

Excursion Photos!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful and safe holiday! or at least the children are.

Here are some photos from the excursion. First fun at Wonky Windmill Farm.
